More heat than light as bulb debate rages on

Because we just can’t get enough of light bulbs, here are a couple of recent developments from the world of incandescent-bulb-ban hysteria:

Republicans in the Minnesota Legislature have introduced a bill that would authorize the sale of inefficient bulbs, but only if they’re manufactured in Minnesota. The Ninth and Tenth Amendments of the Constitution allow the state to sidestep the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act. (via Bob Collins at MPR’s News Cut)

A pair of German entrepreneurs are circumventing that country’s ban on incandescent bulbs by marketing them as space heaters. Their “Heatballs,” like regular incandescent bulbs, give off 95 percent of their energy as heat. (via GOOD)
